Brian Bayer is the communications manager in the Office of Marketing, Communications, Recruitment and Enrollment within the Dean's Office. Bayer initially joined SHRS in April 2017 as the Internal & External Relations administrative assistant before moving into the Communications Specialist role. His current responsibilities include coordinating and executing strategic communications and marketing projects in digital and traditional spaces to advance the mission of the School, including initiatives in branding, social media management, graphic design, video production, website development and online learning. He holds a Master of International Development (MID) from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public & International Affairs (GSPIA) and a B.A. in Communication from John Carroll University.

He is also an alumnus of the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership, serves as a board member and vice-president for the Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Council (FQHC) and is a fellow with the Pittsburgh chapter of the New Leaders Council. Prior to joining the University of Pittsburgh, he lived for three years in Ecuador, where he worked as a high school Language Arts teacher and a freelance journalist covering social issues and tourism.
