Dr. Moreland is the Senior Director of Strategic Programs and Services at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS), Office of Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement and the inaugural director of the Pitt SHRS Wellness Pavilion located at the Pitt Homewood Community Engagement Center. Additionally, Dr. Moreland is an is a clinician and co-owner of Sanant Counseling & Wellness LLC, a private mental health practice located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  

Dr. Moreland earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development and Family Relations and her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her Doctor of Education degree in Leadership and Administration from Point Park University. Dr. Moreland is also a National Board-Certified Counselor (NBCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP), and Adult and Child Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Her broad professional experience spans expertise in K-12 education; affordable housing; crisis management; individual and group counseling; mentorship; and cultural humility.  

Dr. Moreland has worked in non-profit organizations for the past 14 years in a variety of capacities, applying her expertise to develop, implement, and administer large scale community and education programs (e.g., ACTION Housing Inc. Housing Connector Program; Morehead Tower’s Community-Based Resident Services; Pittsburgh Public Schools National Community Schools Model; Homewood Community Health Fair; Homewood American Red Cross Babysitting/First Aid Program; SHRS Wellness Pavilion). 

Dr. Moreland is a published author (The lived leadership experiences of Black women professionals: A phenomenological qualitative study of the intersectionality of race and gender. ProQuest Dissertations Publishing, 2017. 28001422) and a frequently invited speaker at national professional meetings held in various states (e.g., Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina, West Virginia) and various cities throughout Pennsylvania. Dr. Moreland’s research interest includes youth and professional mentorship, diversity and inclusion, equity, minority leadership and multicultural counseling.
